Serie 35

Aufgabe 1

409. Wertungsaufgabe

Deadline for solution is the 14th. november 2013.

Bernd and Mike were sitting together with their friends, speaking about their holiday experiences. Heinrich talked about the geocaching camp. He had learned a lot but most of all he was impressed by a tour that the participants had to do completely without modern devices.
“Summarize again”, Mike said.
“There were five of us – Felicitas, Marie, Tom, Gunnar and me (Heinrich). Each of us had to reach the same finishing post by different routes (route 1, route 2, … )”. On each route we had to find a solitary tree – birch, oak, alder, fir, spruce. On arriving at the finishing post we found that each of us had taken different times (75, 85, 95, 100 and 110 minutes).”
Who passed which tree and how long did their tour take? - 6 blue points
1. Heinrich took route 5.
2. Route 3 was accomplished in 95 minutes.
3. Marie couldn't at first find her Alder. That's why she needed 10 minutes longer than Gunnar who didn't take route 4.
4. Felicitas needed 85 minutes and didn't take route 1.
5. Route 1 passed the birch.
6. Tom found it easy to find the spruce. This tree wasn't part of route 2.
7. The oak was part of the route that took the least time.
“Is there any other information on this deviceless tour?”, Bernd asked.
“Indeed there is”, Heinrich said. “The hints for the routes were written on paper of different colour (red, blue, green, yellow and orange). The hints had different lengths (10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 lines). Each of us put their hints more or less tidily into a different place (backpack, satchel, neck pouch, belt-bag and yes, into the trouser pocket).”
How many lines did the hints have, on what paper were they written and how were they carried? - 6 red points.
1. The paper for route 3 which was neither carried in the backpack nor in the neck pouch had 10 lines more than the yellow one.
2. The blue paper was put into the trouser pocket.
3. The paper with the 25 lines was in the backpack.
4. Route 1 was written on a red paper.
5. The notes for route 5 were in a satchel. They were also 10 lines shorter than the ones on the orange paper.
6. The 20 lines for route 4 weren't carried in the neck-pouch.
6 red points

Aufgabe 2

410. Wertungsaufgabe

Deadline for solution is the 21th. november 2013.

Bernd and Maria spent their holiday in Liechtensteintogether with their parents. There they visited the Gutenberg Castle or Palace, as some would say, in the community of Balzers. At the castle's wall there was a spot reserved for the the coat of arms. There was no coat of arms yet. It wasn't clear what the coat of armswould look like, but because of the vicinity to Switzerland Bernd and Maria assumed the Swiss shape like this:410-1

What would the area of the blue stripes be if the coat of arms had the same overall area as the one from Balzers? - 4 blue points

The Chemnitz coat of arms looks like this:

Aufgabe 3

411. Wertungsaufgabe
411

5 rote Punkte. Wie groß ist das Volumen der Ausgangskugel? 2 blaue Punkte.

“Why does this ball you'r rolling onto yourgameboard make such a wobbly movement?”, Mike asked.
“Look close, it' isn't a ball, it's a globoule.” “Globoule?”
“Look, to make a globoule you first need a woodenball of 6cm in diameter. In the picture you can see that there is akind of indention in the sphere.” “I see.” “This is a semi-spherical section that reaches tothe centre of the wooden sphere.” What is the volume of the globoule? - 5 red points What's the volume of the wooden ball? - 2 blue points

Aufgabe 4

412. Wertungsaufgabe
„Schau mal, ich habe in einem Buch diesen Bruchbaum entdeckt“, sagte Maria ihrem Bruder Bernd.
412
(4+4 rote Punkte)

Termin der Abgabe 05.12.2013. Deadline for solution is the 5th. december 2013.

“Look, I found this fraction tree in a book”, Maria told her brother Bernd.412

The rule for the branching is really simple. Let there be a fraction a/b. Then the fraction branching off left is a+b/b and the one to the right is a/a+b.
In the picture you can see the first three “lines” of this. What fractions are in line 5? - 4 blue points.
There are only reduced fractions to be seen in the picture. Can you show that that every fraction in our tree is reduced? Alternatively give the first reducible fraction in the tree.
Is there a reduced fraction that does not at some point appear in this tree? - (4+4 red points)

Aufgabe 5

413. Wertungsaufgabe
4 rote Punkte

Termin der Abgabe 12.12.2013. Deadline for solution is the 12th. december 2013.

 413

413
"That's a nice, colourful parallelogramm", Mike said to Lisa.
"Well, it's not simply colourful. In my coordinate system I only used points that have integers as coordinates. Also all the other points (on the sides and inside the coordinates) have ontegers as coordinates. Then I divided the coordinates into as many triangles as possible that don't overlap and that have – consequentially – only vertices with integers as coordinates. In my cas I was able to find exactly 8 triangles."
How many triangles can be found if both points B and C are moved one unit to the right? - 4 blue points (Careful: there will be on extra point iside the parallelogramm – enclose sketch)
How many triangles can be found in a general parallelogramm if the number of points along the sides and inside. - 4 red points

Für das Ausgangsbild: a=2, i=2 --> Anzahl 2+2*2+2 = 8
Für die blaue Aufgabe: a=4 i=3 --> Anzahl 4+2*3+2=12

Aufgabe 6

414. Wertungsaufgabe
414„Hallo Mike, trinkst du Whisky?“, sagte Lisa entsetzt.

Deadline for solution is the 19th. december 2013.

414"Mike, are you drinking whisky?", Lisa asked startled.
"No, Bernd's father only let me have these three bottle containers of this special kind of whisky because they have an interesting cross section. Their shape is basically the black part of the picture here. It's based on an equilateral triangle ABC. The curves are actually arcs of circles whose centres are the opposite vertices of the triangle. Now, the interesting thing is that this board here, that rests on the three containers can be rolled back and forth without going up or down."
"Cool."
What are the areas of the equilateral triangle (2 blue points), of the enclosing square (1 blue point) and the black area (3 blue points), if one side of the triangle is 10 cm?
The black area can be moved within the square. What percentage of the square's are would be covered at most? (3 red points, 5 extra red points for a complete derivation of the formula, another red point for naming the brand of whisky)

Aufgabe 7

415. Wertungsaufgabe

„Hallo Mike, hast du schon wieder einen Zauberkreis entdeckt?“, fragte Bernd. „Irgendwie schon. Schau mal her.
Was gilt zwischen a, b und c? 3 blaue Punkte. 3 rote Punkte

Termin der Abgabe 09.01.2014. Deadline for solution is the 9th. January 2014.

"Hi Mike, have you discovered another magic circle?", Bernd asked.
"In a sense, yes. Take a look. Let there be a line segment AB of two centimetres (generally: a cm). Let's extend this line segment over point B up to a point C. Let BC be 4 cm (generally: b cm). Now let's construct a perpendicular in point B. Mark a point D on this line 1cm from B. Now construct the circumcircle of triangle ACD. The perpendicular that we constructed before will intersect this circle in one more point: E. If you measure you will notice that the length of BE (=c) has something to do with the lengths of AB and BC. (sum, difference, product or quotient of the lengths.)"
What is the length of line segment BE with the given lengths a=3cm and b=4cm? What is the relation between a, b and c? - 3 blue points
Show that this relation holds for any given values of a and b. - 3 red points

Es gilt dann\frac{AB}{BD}= \frac{BE}{BC}. Damit also BE*BD= AB*BC. Da aber BD = 1 sein soll, gilt BE=AB * BC.

(Seite mit dem Beweis).

Aufgabe 8

416. Wertungsaufgabe

Gennaio 2013. Deadline for solution is the 16th. January 2014.

English version:

"What are you doing with that laser pointer and the cube?", Bernd asked.
"There is a small hole in that cube at point A through which I can point the laser into the cube. The cube is made of semi-transparent mirrors so you can observe the path of the laser light from the outside", Mike explained.
"Right, I see what you mean."
How should you position the laser pointer to let the ray arrive at point C with as few reflections as possible, but at least one? - 3 blue points
Is it possible to arrive at the centre-point of BCFG after at least one reflection and how far would the light have to travel inside the cube a minimum, or is it impossible to give a solution for that. - 6 red points

Gennaio 2014.

"That's a nice arrangement of circles", Marie said to Lisa.
"Yes, it is, even though I'm not finished yet. But you see what I'm getting at. Any two circles should meet in exactly one point."
Let the biggest circle have a radius of 6 cm. Let's also colour in the two circles of equal size red. What percentage of the big circle is red? - 3 blue points
Let the centre of the big circle be the centre of a Cartesian coordinate system (1cm units). How can you calculate the coordinates of the centres of the four other circles ? - 8 red points
Is there a circle that is tangent to the upper two circles and the big one? (Calculate the coordinates of its centre and give its radius. Alternatively, show that there does not exist such a circle) + 4 red points

“Look what granddad brought – an old collector's album”, Bernd said to his sister.
“Well, that's not really my cup of tea, but if he really made all those powdered soups to collect the cards of the packets then he made a lot”, Maria said.
“It would have been even more packet soups than cards, because you don't see what's inside the packets.”
“He will have traded cards for sure.”
Find the number of purchases necessary to raise the chance (probability) above 50%. - 4 blue points for a solution of a 5-card scenario.
5 red points for a solution of a 100-card scenario.

420 k„Was hast du denn fotografiert?“, fragte Bernd.

5 rote Punkte.

Termin der Abgabe 13.02.2014. Deadline for solution is the 13th. February 2014. Febbraio 2014.

420 kChe cosa hai fotografato?”, chiese Bernd.

5 punti rossi.

420
420 k“What on earth did you photograph here?”, Bernd asked.
“It should be familiar because it's on our school yard. They only filled in soil and planted some trees and then put up benches”, Maria replied. (The new photo will be published with the solution … )
Here is a detailed drawing.
420-2AB = 6.92m. AE = 0.4m is the side of a small square – four of which are in each corner. AF = 1.52m and FG is 0.57m.
How many square metres of soil are to see after filling in? - 5 blue points (The parallel sides of the crossing trapezoid are parallel to AC.)
How long would AF have to be in order to let the lower area of soil be exactly twice as big as the upper? - 5 red points
